Overview

Madha is a wilayat in Musandam Governorate, Oman, and a unique Omani exclave entirely surrounded by the United Arab Emirates. It is best known as a geographic curiosity: the exclave itself contains Nahwa, a small UAE counter-enclave, creating an enclave within an enclave. Points of interest include the 17th-century Madha Fort and traditional mountain-fed farms and springs.

Getting there

Madha lies inside UAE territory between Fujairah and Khor Fakkan; it is reached by road through the UAE, and there is no border checkpoint at the exclave boundary.

Local tips

There is no border crossing between Madha, Nahwa and the surrounding UAE, so you pass in and out freely. The Omani village of Madha and the UAE village of Nahwa sit side by side.
