For half the year the north of Oman baked under a punishing sun; then, around October, the heat lifts and the whole country seems to exhale. From October to March the coast, the mountains and the desert are all comfortable at once, with days in the mid-twenties on the shore and cooler air in the highlands. This is the window when everything works together: hiking Jebel Shams, swimming the wadis, camping the Wahiba dunes, touring Muscat and cruising Musandam, all in a single trip without fighting the heat.
