Overview
Barr Al Hikman, a vast tidal flat on Oman's central coast, is the country's largest wetland and one of the most important wintering grounds for shorebirds in the region. From October to March, hundreds of thousands of waders gather here, crab plover, great knot, greater flamingo and many more, in a spectacle that peaks with the low tides. It is a world-class, Ramsar-calibre birding site that remains remarkably under the radar.
