Right beside the capital, the reclaimed lagoons of Al Ansab and the mangrove reserve at Al Qurm draw migratory waders, flamingoes, herons and raptors through the cool months. It is the easiest serious birding in Oman: a network of hides and mangrove edges just minutes from downtown Muscat, where a morning can turn up dozens of species without leaving the city. A perfect low-effort add-on to a capital stay.
