Al Awabi is a mountain wilayat in Al Batinah South Governorate, Oman, set where the Batinah plain rises into the Al Hajar Mountains. It is the gateway to Wadi Bani Kharus, a 26 km gorge famous for its exposed rock strata that climb toward Jebel Akhdar, and it gives access to Wadi Bani Awf and Snake Canyon. Its restored castle, old villages and aflaj-fed terraces sit among the peaks.
