As Suwaiq is a coastal wilayat in Al Batinah North Governorate, Oman, spread along a wide farming plain that meets the Gulf of Oman. Its restored 16th-century fort sits by the old seafront market, and the wilayat is watered by dozens of aflaj and natural springs that feed date and lime plantations. The long sandy shoreline and camel-racing tradition of the Batinah plain draw day visitors from Muscat.
