Overview
Liwa is a coastal wilayat in Al Batinah North Governorate, Oman, on the Gulf of Oman just north of Sohar. It runs from sea to plain to mountain across many villages, with abundant fresh water and date plantations. Liwa Fort, mangrove khors along the coast and the caves of Abu Kahf mountain are its main draws; the large Port of Sohar lies just to the south.
