About
Al Mirani Fort is a Portuguese-built fortress on a rocky outcrop guarding the western side of Old Muscat's harbour in Oman. It was constructed in the 1580s and completed between 1586 and 1588, facing its twin, Al Jalali Fort, across the bay. Together the forts defended Muscat against attack from the sea until Omani forces captured them in 1650.
