About

Al Alam Palace is the ceremonial palace of the Sultan of Oman, located in Old Muscat between two 16th-century Portuguese forts. Its name means 'Palace of the Flag', and the current building, completed in 1972, is distinguished by its bold gold and blue flared columns. The interior is closed to the public, but visitors can approach the gates and photograph its facade across the plaza facing the National Museum.
