Masirah Island is Oman's largest island at 95 km long, in the Arabian Sea in Ash Sharqiyah South, a separate wilayat reached by car ferry, with a rugged mountainous east, sandy west, and fame for turtles, wind and empty beaches. Visitors base themselves here to explore beaches, turtle nesting, wrecks, kitesurfing and birdlife and drive the coastal loop.
