About
Jebel Akhdar, the Green Mountain, is part of the Al Hajar range in Ad Dakhiliyah, Oman, and includes the Saiq Plateau at about 2,000 metres. Its comparatively cool, mild climate and higher rainfall support terraced orchards of pomegranates, apricots, walnuts and grapes, irrigated by traditional falaj channels. The mountain is especially famous for its Damask roses and rosewater production, and in 2025 it was designated a UNESCO biosphere reserve.
