About
Bahla Fort is a large mud-brick fortress in the oasis town of Bahla in Oman's Ad Dakhiliyah Governorate, set at the foot of the Jebel Akhdar highlands. Built between the 12th and 15th centuries by the Banu Nebhan tribe, it was inscribed as Oman's first UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1987 and reopened in 2012 after extensive restoration. The complex includes several towers and residential quarters and is surrounded by a long ancient wall enclosing the old town.
