Al Hamra is one of Oman's oldest and best-preserved towns, in Ad Dakhiliyah, with rows of 400-year-old mud-brick houses at the foot of Jebel Shams. Nearby is the terraced mountain village of Misfat Al Abriyeen, and the town is a gateway to Oman's Grand Canyon.
